Myth: Austin is 'Too' Expensive

Austin has a reputation for being too expensive. Yes, its much pricier than surrounding areas like Buda, Kyle, or San Marcos; however, Austin is affordable if you know where to look and how to buy smart.

Our version of 90210 would be Westlake Hills (78746) or The 04 (78704). These are two of the pricier areas of Austin and Tarrytown, Clarksville and Hyde Park historic districts are also pricey because they're all within the city limits and most areas have high walkability factor!

If you're moving here from out of state and are looking to get a large home with yard, pool, and surrounded by great schools, its doable! You can find a great home on the east side, Cherrywood, Rosedale, Great Hills (northside) or south Austin (78745) for great prices. Its possible to find a new build in these areas that meets your needs OR brave the fixer upper and utilize your realtor's contacts for designing/building the home of your dreams.

Also, keep in mind Austin is a HUB for tourists, weddings, bachelor/bachelorette parties, and corporate events! We are inundated with students from UT, St Edwards U and Texas State University so renting out your home, or part of your home is a great way to offset costs.
